“See” You Soon

Though this time is temporary, some days it feels as if it will last forever. In just one month we’ve witnessed drastic changes in children homeschooled, employees working from home, and gyms and restaurants closing. I myself have days I feel isolated, despite FaceTimes and Zoom calls with friends and my kids. We all have good reason for the rising fear and anxiety, especially if you are or have a loved one who is an essential worker at the center of it all. This uncertainty and stress takes a toll on our physical, mental, and emotional health.

How can we maintain a sense of calm, while acknowledging the fear and anxiety?

I truly believe that the first step is to reach out for help when we need it. In an effort to keep a sense of normalcy, I would like to do what I can to stay connected and offer some support.

Over the next few weeks, I am offering personal and confidential Zoom sessions to my patients at no charge.

I intend to offer anxiety-reducing techniques and suggestions of homeopathic remedies for spring allergies and stress relief. I’m interested in helping you support your own immune system through our body’s best line of defense - wholesome food choices. Our immune systems need to have a fighting chance this spring.

Allergy season is about to be in full bloom. How do we differentiate between signs of coronavirus and allergy symptoms.

I treat many people who have spring allergies, and their symptoms range from itchy, watery eyes and dry cough, to sneezing, and even headaches. While my patients have found acupuncture extremely helpful in relieving these symptoms, this time makes it hard for patients to come for an appointment. We can discuss your symptoms during these zoom sessions and I can continue to offer you tangible support. Please know that a fever seems to be a key symptom of Covid-19, and is the major distinguishing symptom between spring allergies and the virus. Of course, if you are ever in doubt, call your doctor.

The food we put into our bodies at this time is of the utmost critical, and research supports this. Pre-packaged junk food, although easy to put on the table, will do nothing to fortify our immune systems. Furthermore, such food can even be detrimental to our mental health. High glucose levels from consuming too much sugar will wreak havoc on us in the short and long-term. I’m all about the comfort food cravings of pizza and mac ‘n cheese, but right now is a good time to either make a healthy version of comfort food, or choose a healthier option entirely.

In my previous newsletter, I shared that I recently completed a Plant Based Nutrition Program through Cornell University, led by T. Colin Campbell, PhD, author of The China Study. I can help support you with tips and guidance so that you’re equipped to incorporate more wholesome, plant-based foods into your diet and so that ultimately, your immune system will have a fighting chance.

My work as an acupuncturist is to support and balance energy levels, and during this time, I look forward to working with you remotely so that you can achieve that by supporting your body, mind, and emotional state in any and all of the ways you need

Also, if you want to schedule a call to simply say hi, please know I’m here for that too. To schedule a Zoom session, just email me or call the office.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Stay well,

Megan Stewart, Lic Ac
